Foggy Memories – It was a cold and windy morning, not a great day for capturing the beauty of our coast, though it shouldn’t be said that it can’t be done…where a vivid sunrise quickly evokes memories of past visits to the coast, maybe a foggy and gray morning in the right context can evoke memories as well. A couple days ago I wandered the docks down at the marina searching for squares, for my new and growing series “Port A Squared (PA2), but there is so much to be seen…some of it surely can’t be packaged into a neat square…sometimes too much is lost…like memories that fade over time, though aren’t really lost. If you have spent any time in Port A it is likely that you had bought fresh shrimp right off the iconic Polly Anna from John and Molly Nixon…a memory in the making. It’s now been a few years…and the trips down to the dock are but a memory. Talk is that the new owner will shrimp again…we shall see…in the meantime she lies quietly dockside tugging at the mooring lines…seemingly ready to refresh our memories.
“So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories.”
