After a Long Night - A shrimp boat returns to Port Aransas after a long night where they are greeted by an epic waterspout guiding them home.
"Often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us." ~ Helen Keller
Silent “After a Long Night” – One of those mornings where I was drawn to a location…waking early, a cup of coffee, the morning paper…and so prepared left the house feeling a decisive pull towards the marina…a calm near windless morning brings to mind long exposure reflections shots in the early light. But this location only set the stage for being at the right place at the right time…as the colors began to bloom towards the jetties, again I was drawn forth…a decidedly tropical feel to the morning, and a beautiful sunrise. While shooting I also saw a shrimp boat offshore heading in from after a long night and was hoping they would make their way in to be the star in the colorful light show that was unfolding…but no, that was not to be. A lens change, a failed attempt at some dolphin jumping on the bow of an inbound ship…seemed the morning was over…until a waterspout…and then two waterspouts formed…seemed it would never end as it stayed in one spot…seemingly awaiting the arrival of the shrimp boat as it made its way into the shot.
Life is like this too, we are continually being readied for what is to come, we make decisions that ultimately affect us…and others, as we seem to find ourselves being guided towards an end…a subtle nudge drawing us closer to where we are supposed to be…a series of steps…maybe not so random after all put us exactly where we need to be...
