Where the Color Is

This past week found me really searching for workable light, often shooting in places I might not have gone if the light was "right".  For me I am looking for clouds that provide interest, as they pick up the light from the rising or setting sun, and with foreground or backgrounds that enhance all that is going on in the shot.  This week I was rewarded, finding conditions that were somewhat lacking in the cloud factor, but more than made up for it in other ways!  Hope you enjoy them!   I had so much fun this week, that I wanted to share...Valid only this Saturday 7/18 and Sunday 7/19 use "Color25" and receive a 25% discount on any photo or photos on my website...bring some color into your life this weekend!!

In the Spotlight - As the day was drawing to a close, I thought there might be a chance for a sunset with some color and a few clouds, so off I went for a quick after dinner trip to the Leonabelle Turnbul Birding Center. Though the hoped for color didn't quite come together, a lone Great Blue Heron took the spotlight, as he was looking for a sunset snack in just the right spot. Changing Times - The morning had me thinking about capturing color, though what I caught instead was an icon of Port Aransas. I made a pass down the beach, which will be closed for the next two weeks, hoping to find something to focus on, though as has been the case many days this month, the color would remain elusive. Off to the marina, and the shrimp boat Polly Anna caught my eye; mostly because it was there at the dock on a day where nearly every gulf shrimper was out to sea on the 2nd day of the 2020 Gulf Shrimp season. Times change, and John and Molly are no longer at the helm of the Polly Anna, one of three in a line of shrimp boats carrying the same name that they built and operated over the past 50 years. "Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like." ~ Laozi Port Aransas, TexasJuly 16, 2020

Pinkness - This morning began again as one seemingly devoid of color, though as has been the norm, there has been just a spec, lasting only so briefly...you just have to be ready...no real second chances! Today's color brought to you on the wings of a Roseate Spoonbill at the Leonabelle Turnbul Birding Center...where does your color come from?
