December 2021 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2022...What to watch for in the Year Ahead?

As Only a Child Sees It" – Sometimes you know the shot when it happens, nothing is truly planned, but this morning the early hints of what was to come were amazing…and it would only get better! Off to the beach, and as I watched it unfold, shot after shot…each seemingly better…and then the real show began. A little girl, in her pink rain boots and fluffy coat is running ahead of Mom and Dad…maybe seeing what only her young and unjaded eyes could see. I knew then that would be the shot! When we are blessed with a new day, how often do we really see the bounty before us…are our eyes really open?

The Year in the Review.

This past year has been a mélange of emotions and experiences; a family gathering, thirty years of marriage, a crazy freeze, two of my happy place Mexico fishing trips with friends, and what seems to be a never-ending journey through a pandemic…something that many thought would be over sooner, but not many would have thought would still be going strong now nearly two years later. This next year will find me doing what I do…countless hours behind the lens…something that continues to bring me solace and joy as I combine images and words…connecting to many across the country. I offer a heartfelt thank you and my gratitude to those that have followed me and continue to encourage me on this journey!

Our calendar was a huge success and so fun to design and market...already thinking about the 2023 design!

Port Aransas Squared --- PA2

PA2 “Slow Moves” – With an idea brewing for a series of shots “Port Aransas Squared” (PA2 ) I’m embarking on a quest to shoot squares…shots that will be cropped square, not always a full image, maybe a swatch of coastal color, some small element of something larger…but square it will be. In search of the square I headed to the pier, and as I wandered out on the beach…a chilly but near-windless morning the reflecting lights from the pier played on the calm waters…made slower with the long exposure as the water lazily moved shoreward, and the first golden hues reflected on the wet sand. I’m thinking this quest will be fun…a focus going into the new year…a creative goal…capturing the beauty of the community I love “PA2”…come follow the square!

“The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” ~Aristotle
