Autumnal Delights

It has been a long hot summer, with a record breaking hurricane season, Covid Craziness, and all the rest, I'm already enjoying the somewhat cooler (not 90) weather, and the coastal colors of Fall. These improved conditions have resulted in some beautiful new shots on the website, and to celebrate I'm offering a 25% discount through the end of the month.  Enter "shoptoberfest" at checkout! Below you will see just a small sampling of what is available...hope you enjoy the virtual visit to the best beach in Texas!

Thank you!

Autumn Dunes - This morning had me again following the "nudge" south...what was I going to find, and how would I know I had arrived as I drove on down the beach in the dark? As I pondered that question, I glimpsed a lightly used trail cutting up through the dunes...pulling over a ways down from it I walked back, flashlight in hand, thinking the small path might be the only way up, as the dunes were still showing the unsurmountable vertical faces left over from several brushes with passing tropical weather events this summer. Still nearly dark I walked up the trail, looking for a good sight line, and saw that the entire backside of the dune was in bloom with golden flowers, lending an autumnal feel to the slowly unfolding scene, as a subtle pastel slowly began to highlight the clouds down the beach.  Are our searches really a conscious effort, or are we guided at a subconscious level towards what we need…not what we want?

Morning Chill - With the American White Pelicans here in large numbers, and this morning's first real cold front requiring long pants and a light jacket for a couple hours; I think that we can now safely say that the 2020 Hurricane Season is functionally over, despite over a month remaining in the season. Let us not dwell on the worst that we have experienced this year, but instead let us continue to be thankful and hopeful for all that lays ahead...knowing that this too will pass.

Dressed in Yellow" - The Chapel on the Dunes seems to never disappoint, as she runs through her seasonal repertoire. Most of my photographs of this hidden gem include the stairs, though a few days a go I was drawn to this angle by the broad expanse of yellow flowers and the shadow of the palm tree playing on the front. I am often drawn in a direction that I might not have consciously thought to go; feeling the gentle nudge when the time is right towards something previously unseen.  In your days - things like this happen to you... You get a tap, a nudge, a gentle shake, and life whispers to you,

For Those That Wait - This morning with rain clouds, and a cool breeze I shot what was there...another gray day. I had headed back to the truck pretty sure that though the sun had already began it's journey skyward, it wasn't going to offer much from behind the clouds. As I waited, mostly just enjoying the coolness in the air, something began to happen...some blue sky began to appear high in the sky, clouds began picking up some color, and the leaden horizon suddenly began to yield to the orange of the sun...not what I was imagining...proving we are often gifted with so much more than we expected!

"Our spiritual life is a life in which we wait, actively present to the moment, expecting that new things will happen to us, new things that are far beyond our own imagination or prediction. This, indeed, is a very radical stance toward life in a world preoccupied with control." ~ Henri Nouwen
